Where to buy rear springs and shocks for Marathon
I have a 1983 gas 4 wheel Marathon that we use to haul the grandson jr dragster to and from the pits, I have changed the body over to a 2000 txt body with the rear seat. Where can I find a good set of springs and shocks that will hold the extra weight when someone is riding in the back seat? The 83 is the year the muffler rides across the frame rails and with weight in the back the muffler hits the upper frame. And when you bounce the cart you can tell that the stock springs and shocks are wore out.
Any suggestions on what to use or where to get some from? Thanks Dennis |

Re: Where to buy rear springs and shocks for Marathon
I thought I saw somebody say they used 31000 Monroe shocks on the front and 31125 on the rear, or the other way around. Also I'm not sure if it was a custom build with a lift kit or not. I just remember the numbers.

The Monroe 31000 for the rear and Monroe 31125 only work as a replacement if doing a custom 4 inch lift similar to what I'm doing to mine now.

The 31000 Monroe shock and the 31125 are longer shocks and would be for a 4" or so lifted cart.
Thanks for the replys |

If the coils are stiff enough, but you need a little height for clearance, remove the coil, measure the locating lug diameter on the axle.Get some Sch.40 pipe that size, double the length you want to increase height. Then find a large washer,or cut one from some 3/16" or 1/4" steel flat bar.Weld it in place on the tube at the required height, the coil will sit on the ring. Then remeasure for shocks, you might be able to reuse your originals,if its only an inch or so.Hooe this helps.
