Default 85 2PG 2 Cycle won't start. What now?

Hi All,

I managed to let my 85 Marathon 2PG sit in the garage for 9 months without starting it up. It turned over fine but wouldn't start. I decided to replace the fuel lines, filter and I pulled the carb and cleaned it. Still won't start. Every now and then trys to startup but then dies. It has a new battery and it's fully charged. I pulled the spark plug and made sure it was clean. I connected to the wire and it seems I have spark. It ran fine the last time I used it. Any ideas why it won't fire up?

Thanks!!

You say 'it seems as though you have spark' Did you actually see spark? Does the plug appear wet after cranking for so long and not starting?

Well it could be, I'm just trying to figure out what you have and what you don't. So it seems you have spark and fuel....the spark is good and strong? Have you checked the air filter to make sure you don't have a crazy mouse nest or anything in there? Did you store it with any kind of fuel stabilizer or change the fuel? Did you charge up the battery? The coils on these don't care for an under voltage much.

Going to have to leave the cart behind on this trip. I've done everything I know how to do.

New fuel filter and lines
Pulled and cleaned the carb
Drained the gas gas tank and added fresh fuel
New air filter
New spark plug
Battery charged 100%

Only things I can think of at this point would be the coil or fuel pump.

That'll teach me to not Strat it on a regular basis.
