Default Motor Replacement

Ok, I have hit my first stump in my total rebuild and upgrade from 36 volts to 48 volts.

I removed all three bolts holding the motor to the drive axle housing. Is there a trick to get the motor off from here? I don't want to get overly rough with it and break something.

Any help is appreciated.

I may be wrong but I think it has four bolts.

It probably just has three. And being overly rough is sometimes part of the job!

I could only see three bolts. 3, 9, 12 o'clock.

I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something else holding it on there that I couldn't see.

How long is the splined shaft?

I will get a little rougher with it this evening....

The spline overlap is an inch or so and they have been rusting together for 11 years on your 2007 PDS.

The attached picture may help.

-----------
I exploded my stock PDS motor, which locked up the rear axle.
The flat bed that brought it home left it in front of the house and I had to move it off the road, so after removing the THREE bolts that hold motor on trying just about everything this side of C4, I disconnect the cables.

The entire motor case could now spin and I could move the cart without having to slide the rear tires. I tried towing it to my shade tree work space with my riding lawn mower and about halfway there we heard something make a load thunk. The motor was sitting on the axle when I took the center back cover off.

I don't recommend this motor removal method.

-----------
Use plenty of anti-seize when installing new motor and be sure to transfer the rubber spline bumper to the new motor

On my '06, the stock motor was rusted on. I could not get it off even with a 5lb hammer. Cart shop near me had to use an electric impact hammer to get it off.
