Default Any Tips For Tightening Starter Motor Belt?

1997 CC DS...starter/generator belt squealing like a pig when try to start and is so loose it 's wavering...I can't seem to get a lever under it to pry it up to tighten enough...any tricks to this? Thanks!

I stick a pry bar under the gen but on top of the bracket and gently nudge it up. It needs to be tight, but not over tight or it will wreck the bearing.

Helps to loosen the 2 bolts in the front of it too.

I take a ratcheting tie-down strap, loop it around the starter and the metal seat frame assembly, then ratchet it up until the belt is the desired tension. Tighten the adjustment bolt and the two mounting bolts, then release the tie-down.

Never thought of that! Going to keep that in mind next time I have one that's tricky.
