Solenoid works but it won't turn over. Ideas?
I have an 01 DS that has always been a strong runner until about an hour ago. I drove the quarter of a mile from my house to the store and stopped to run in and grab a bottle of wine, hopped back in five minutes later, stepped on the gas and nothing happened. No turning over, nothing. I immediately checked the solenoid which was replaced a month ago and it clicks like it's opening. I checked the battery and it's completely charged, all the points seem to be fastened well and tight, everything seems to be in order. I should also mention that a new solenoid and battery were all installed recently by a very reputable local shop. What gives? I read something about micro switches or something but I don't know what that has to do with it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Re: Solenoid works but it won't turn over. Ideas?
I have three different solenoids and I put all three in and all three work fine, so I think that is okay. How do I jump this solenoid, or what do you mean by that? (Sorry I'm pretty retarded when it comes to anything wiring or electronics).

You can jump the solenoid by contacting both leads on top of the solenoid. Lay a screwdriver or wrench across both post.

Both of you might try rapping the starter to see if it
has sticky brushes. |

Rotate the drive clutch by hand to move the starter/generator into a different spot. If it turns over then you need brushes.
