Default G22 gas struggling to get going

When I hit the gas on my G22 gas, it doesn't always take right off. Sometimes, I hear a straining / screaching sound. It's like the belt is having trouble getting going. This is hard to explain. Any thoughts?

Loose starter/generator belt, dirty battery connection's, weak battery or starter generator brushes worn. Check the belt for tightness, check the battery (with a voltmeter, should not drop below 10 volts when cranking it over).
