Yamaha golf cart won't run!!

I have a 2002 yamaha g16 gas golf cart. I turn the key to the on position then I pressed the gas pedal down and all that happens is the sylenoid clicks and the golf cart doesn't turn on. Help me please!

Possible reasons:
1. Loose negative connection. Check negative pole of battery; tighten if loose.
2. Loose connections in solenoid and/or solenoid not properly grounded.
3. Faulty solenoid. Check by shorting the two large solenoid poles.
4. Faulty battery (low voltage; drained)
5. Problem with starter/gen like loose connection, worn carbon brush, etc.

I charged the battery up and pressed the gas pedal down and now it turns over but it won't fire up. I also made sure all of the wires were connected and they were. It happened when I was driving it in my backyard and I stopped it and put it in reverse and all it did was sit there and wouldn't do anything. The only thing it did was the sylenoid clicked when I pushed the pedal down.

How old is that battery? It might be time for a new one.

You also might want to take the battery cables off and make sure those connections are good and clean.

I'm not sure how old the battery is, I just got the golf cart a couple of days ago. The ignition wiring is **** because the owner who had it before me tried to re wire it and he used all red wire instead of color coating them.
