Burned up rectifier in charger
My charger popped the fuse so I reset it and noticed the amp meter never moved on the charger. When I took apart the charger I saw the rectifier bolted to the inside of the case was all black and looked burned up. They are only a few dollars online, will I really be that lucky just to put a new one in?

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
FWIW, look at the rebuild kits on ebay. They are cheap. I'd buy a kit and replace all of the components that the kit includes

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
I had to do this a few years ago with my charger and it's worked great ever since.

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
Thats very good news!! I will look up a rebuild kit right now. I have a power drive 2 charger. I just unhooked and charged all 4 batteries overnight with my smart chargers (happen to have 4) and all 4 batteries are reading 12.80-12.90 each while unhooked.

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
Is it better to get rebuild kit with oem 35amp rectifier or one with heavy duty 50 amp?

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
I've got a PD2 as well, and I believe I just went with the 35 amp OEM one. It's hard to say if the 50 amp really would last longer.

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
Overkill never hurts, especially when it's only a $4 dollar difference (may be less if as best offer is accepted). Make sure it is the kit from the seller golfcartparts. I bought from him and I am happy with the quality and purchase

Re: Burned up rectifier in charger
For what it's worth, Club Car quit using the 35 Amp rectifier in the PD2 charger a few years before they came out with the PD3. The 50 Amp was used in all of the PD2s at the end of their tenure.
