Tractor Supply is crazy high for 4ga cable. I just bought 60' of 4ga to upgrade the wiring on the 4-130w solar panels on my motorhome yesterday. Bought it at Air Gas Welding Supply for $1.25 per foot. $122.00 for less than 30' with ends seems a little steep also.

The next set I do will probably be 1/0 and I think I'll heat and solder the ends in to stop corrosion. I've had a lot of trouble with it since mine stays outdoors a lot.

Bond,

That 1/0 cable is pretty stiff and could put unwanted strain on things like your F-R switch and motor studs. 4ga will handle all the amps you will ever draw. If you really think you need bigger wire use 2 ga.

Good point....I guess I had a brain fart....I was thinking about the size I have on my mobile Hobart welder, but I wasn't sure what it was so I just checked. It's #2 and pretty flexible. I had #4 on it and when they were damaged a few years ago I bought #2 for the welder and used some of the #4 on my cart. I'll do the same next time the welder needs a new wire.

What kind of material is everyone using for their lugs. I see EZGO uses aluminum and I see some other places around town that make cables use the copper lugs.

Which is better or is it just personal preference. I have used both.

Copper conducts better than aluminum.

I took a 4 gauge jumper cable and cut it up. Its got a good coating and cheaper than buying by the foot.

You just wasted a pair of jumper cables. What's the strand count on that wire?
