2002 DS Series Whining Motor?

I have a 2002 Club Car DS series cart. The cart has seen lots of hard use by the previous owner. When traveling at wide open throttle there is a high pitched whining coming from the rear of the cart. The wife says it sounds like a jet engine winding up. It does seem to get louder the longer you ride the cart. It does not seem to affect operation at all.

I think it is the motor making the noise. The differential oil is full and was recently changed. Anyone have other ideas before I purchase a plum quick motor?
