97 Club Car charger issue
Hello. I'm new to the world of golf carts. However, I replaced a battery today. My son was riding yesterday and heard a sizzle sound then the cart stopped. I found the battery cable on battery 6 had burned off. Not sure why that happened.
Anyway, I replaced the battery and cable. The charger is coming on but spikes to the middle when first plugged in then goes to the left to 10 as if it's not charging. It's charged for two hours now with no movement from the charger needle. Usually it hovers around 20 while charging. I hear noise from the batteries. So just stumped. Should I be concerned? Thanks! |

Re: 97 Club Car charger issue
. . . a charging cycle can take up to 16 hours to complete . . . noise from batteries is probably "gassing" . . . if cells have too much water, the "gassing" may cause water to perk out of top of caps . . . loose connection may have caused cable to burn off . . . start of charge cycle is typically 15-20 amps . . . end of charge cycle is typically about 3.5 amps . . . assuming you have a 48v cart, the OBC controls the rate of charge . . .

Re: 97 Club Car charger issue
It's actually a 36v. Is there any danger of the batteries over heating or blowing up if left on for that long?
