Looking at your picture of the carb and linkage I believe you have the linkage connected to the wrong ball stud on the carb not allowing it to reach full throttle

Mike,
Sorry for your troubles. I have a friend in Niagra Falls, and will forward this thread to him.
Maybe nothing, maybe some help.

Soooo, Being a "new be" would it be a good idea to BBQ my muffler on my 89 marathon??? My son gave me this cart and he ran a 50 to 1 mix. It has electric fuel pump which is working, new carb (which is spitting fuel) and can only start it by injecting fuel thru the spark plug hole. Had engine rebuilt last April but showing 105 pounds compression...Also, what's a good way to clean the reeds???? Planning on pulling the intake today...Rest of my problems are pretty much like mjm697...Thanks

Unhook pipe at muffler, see if it revs better?
E-pump may have too much pressure.
Reeds are essentially self-cleaning, with fuel/air mix washing over them. Just look for sealing.

Out of desperation I reached out to the guy I bought the cart from, he said he will fix it, and knows how frustrating buying a toy that doesn't run after you buy it feels, seems like an honest guy, I'm taking it to him on sat. I will follow threw and let you guys no when or if it gets fixed.

Duh, maybe I should of contacted him in the first place??

Unhooked pipe, injected fuel in cylinder and it fired up. Still have to mess with choke to keep it running (pull it in and out). Not blowing fuel out the overflow hole. Sooo, To adjust the carb, do I turn the screw in all the way and back off 1 1/4 turn ????? When I bought the carb, the screw fell out...so it must not have been adjusted properly..

Surprise Surprise...Went out and the cart fired without injecting fuel in the cylinder...Is that because the muffler is unhooked???
