1992 ezgo have 36v to motor but won't move
Hello I recently bought a 1992 ezgo marathon electric golf cart. It will not move, solenoid clicks, I am getting 36v to each stud on motor with pedal depressed but it won't move. I have put jumper from a1 to s1 and jumper cables to s2 and a2 and to battery and wheels turn. What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad high current contact(s) in the F/R switch.
With the pedal on floor, one of the studs on the motor is connected directly to B+ and one is connected to B-, so all four shouldn't have the same voltage on them. Which drive do you have, the resistor type or the controller type? |

So I probably need a new f&r switch?

I just ordered a new solenoid and potentiometer just to make sure those weren't it I guess I will also order f&r switch. Just hoping it's not the controller.

Re: 1992 ezgo have 36v to motor but won't move
Could be F/R switch, controller or pot box (or a cable).
Connect your DVM between the controller's B- and M- terminals. You should get full battery pack voltage when pedal is pushed just far enough to make solenoid click. If you don't, it is probably the F/R switch. If you do, push pedal to the floor and the voltage ought to decrease to near 0V. If it doesn't. it is either the controller or pot box. To check the pot box, disconnect the black and white wires on top of the controller. Connect your Ohmmeter between the black and white wires. You should get close to 0Ω with pedal up and about 5000Ω with pedal down. (possibly 0Ω to 2500Ω if in reverse) |
