Default Yamaha Key/Ignition question

Bought a new ignition for my G16 electric. Installed it just fine as the connection was prefab and fit just right. Works great and looks way better than whatever was on there before. Figuring my teens and wife would be driving the cart I decided to get some more keys. I ordered a pack of ten Yamaha golf cart keys off Amazon and when they came they were already precut and don't fit in my ignition. Looking at other listings they all seem to be cut the same way. Are all stock Yamaha keys the same? I figure I am going to run up to Ace and see if they can make me some copies of my current ones, but am kind of bummed I can't use any of these other keys.

No. All Yamaha keys are not the same.
Did you get a Yamaha ignition switch?
What key number did you order from Amazon?

I got this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Maybe I'll take the pack I got up to Ace with me and see what they can do.

If they look the same they might have been slightly miss cut. Locksmith might be able to fix that.

They look similar but different cuts. I'll post results of my visit to Ace.

The keys that you bought are correct for your car if it had the original key switch.
The problem is that the switch that you bought is not Yamaha and does not use the standard key for your car.

As is the case for most the carts out there, both "common key" and "uncommon key" versions available. On a golf course they don't want to have to keep track of 50 or 100 different keys, so they are all keyed alike. Any Yamaha key they have will fit any of their rental carts. When people take the carts off the golf course for personal transportation use many times they want a differently keyed lock - just so everybody with the same brand cart isn't able to use their key and drive your cart away. Now most of those "uncommon keys" are just that, not the same as all the ones on a golf course, but the same as the uncommon (less common) key people changed it to for security reasons. Then there are some "unique keys" that are just that - a different key code for every lock - kind of. You may have to contact the seller to ask for more keys that will fit the lock they sold you.
