1988 Ezgo Driven (secondary) Clutch Problem
I have a 1988 EZGO marathon my secondary clutch spring is weak and the belt falls all the way down into the bottom then the rivets grab it and slow it down. 1st how do I take it apart and 2nd how can I get a new spring and or stiffen the one in there. Thanks in advance Mitch.

Re: 1988 Ezgo Driven (secondary) Clutch Problem
Thanks for the direction but mine is not that style mine has a allen wrench set screw on the end (cap). I have tried to loosen it but it only turns about a 1/4 of a turn then stops. I didn't want to force it anymore thinking I might break it.

Re: 1988 Ezgo Driven (secondary) Clutch Problem
Well it went in there at some point in its life. Have you tried PB Blaster? It works wonders on stuck bolts n such. Anywhoo if the allen is what is retaining the cap on there then you will have to get it out to do anything. Should be an aluminum casing so worst case soak it in PB then try to ease it out. If it strips (STUPID ALLEN HEADS) you could drill it or use an EZout. As far as the spring goes. I have heard of some folks who used washers to shim the spring. You may have to search thru the sponsors who sell parts and see if they have a replacement spring or you could give a shout out in the parts thread: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-carts-parts/

Once you get it off, give Tom at Cart Parts Plus (sponsor) a call. He can machine/insert a performance spring for you quick. He just did my '89 and I'm anxious to re-install and provide some hopefully positive feedback.
