FIXED

OK Fellers... he got it all back together and did find that the tow/haul button was indeed the problem... Everything (almost) is fine now... I sure do appreciate it.

BUT

I believe he missed something when putting the transaxle back together... I believe something didn't go back together right with the governor... He says as soon as he touch's the gas pedal It revs up wide open... Any Ideas on this one ?

I want to edit the title of this thread to say it's fixed... Cant seem to find the edit button for it...

Again, Thanks to all for replying

He by chance didn't leave this spring off did he ? with the KEY off push gas pedal to wide open and then let off. Watch to see if the throttle returns to where it was.
Tell him to take a picture of the area where you joggle the shifter lol and post it here and let us look at it. It should be a simple fix.

Winner Winner Trig...

Not that he left the spring off... he had it in the wrong hole... After seeing the pic he remembered it was suppose to go in the furthest hole away...

Running like a champ now except for a little bog of the bottom (from idle)... It's a new carb so were gonna take it apart and clean the jets... Might of gotten a little trash in it...

Sure do appreciate everybody's input

Glad we were able to help your grandson.
Most of the springs I have run into went in the middle hole but if it runs good let it be.
Is this carburetor the OEM one ? I know you said it had a new carb and most buy the amazon and ebay ones.
They just never work out for me . Convincing people to pay what ezgo wants is sort of hard to do.
What oil did he put back in the differential ? manual calls for 30w non detergent and that's what I always use. You need two quarts but it won't take all of it. He may have just saved what came out but wanted to let you know anyway.
I would also tell him to be sure and adjust the valves if he hasn't already did it. 004 is what they set on.
Good luck with it.

Thanks Trig

If I know my grandson.. he is cheap and I am 99.9999% sure he did not get the OEM carb...

As for the spring... He had it in the center hole and moved it to the furthest away...

As for oil.. I don't know what he used but I will ask him...

As for valves.. He just replaced the seals on them as it was smoking/burning oil... Asked him if he cleaned up the seats or anything and he said no... Just changed the seals was all... Did adjust to .004 ... Still burns a little oil but not as bad as it was...

He's thinking of selling it and getting something newer (good idea I think) ...

Again.. thanks for the help ...

You are welcome. Glad he got it moving again.

We all wish we could stop one from smoking by installing valve seals but it just don't happen very much. I doubt at all

Lifted carts will smoke if you don't put exactly 1.5 quarts back in when you change it. The lift tilts the engine and if you fill it up to full level on oil stick it will be overfilled and therefore smoke.

He could probably install rings in it and stop that smoke. I am betting the intake valves are also worn out. I had rather have this engine than a later model any day.

Tell him to find the carb that came off it if he can. If its an OEM you can clean them up but it does take a little skill to get it 100 % clean. The tube under the jet is normally the issue. It has small tiny holes that get plugged up. Toss the cheap one in a box. I have a large box full of them lol

I am not finding anything myself right now. Let me check . The last one I bought was actually for the MCI engine but it worked OK.
