Default voltage reducers

What is the voltage reducer of choice around here? I need to go from 48 to 12 volt to run head/tail lights. I have seen them on amazon for $15 and elsewhere for $120. I know you get what you pay for, but that is a big spread. At $120, I may just add a 12v battery to the bagwell and run lights off of it.

I've had mine for almost three years now and couldn't be happier.

The above linked unit looks very nice for the price. Extra confidence buying from Scotty.
It's a 30 amp unit so you can run a ton of stuff off of it.

I went with a 10 amp unit off of amazon for $22. It's enough for my led lights, but I won't have much 'expandability' for anything else. Also I expect my 'service' and 'warranty' to be non existent...

Well after thinking about this for a while I ended up just adding a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery to run accessories off of. I already had a 12 volt charger, so only needed the battery. I picked up a group size 24 from Sam's club for $74. I don't know which is better, installing a reducer or adding an extra battery. I hope I am happy with this set up.
