36V to 48V and cart won't move
I chopped my 1999 EZ-GO TXT 48V upgrade in two. A year ago I upgraded to the Alltrax SPM48500, heavy duty solenoid, and F&R switch. I also rewired with 2 ga wire. Today I finally got 6 T-875 batteries and installed them. After hooking everything back up, the cart does not want to move. It worked fine beforehand, so I don't understand how there could be a wiring issue? I also installed a voltage reducer, but the lights and horn work fine. I just can't get the cart to go in either direction. I'm getting a bit out of my depth here, so any help really appreciated. This link is to a screenshot of the controller monitoring software when the pedal is depressed. When I use the image tags, nothing shows up in my post.

It has a LOW BATTERY error. Something isn't hooked up correctly.

Re: 36V to 48V and cart won't move
What are the other screens showing in the setup? Battery voltage is 42.5 which is dead for a 48V system.

In any case, I just swapped the plug out on the charger and am charging the battery pack now (in case it is low battery).

If the voltage is dropping when you try to go maybe the solenoid isn't engaging. Can you hear it click? If it is engaging then I would look for a bad battery cable connection that is making the voltage drop when the controller tries to pull current. Measure all of your battery voltages. If they are new, put a good charge on them.

I would Think fully charged batteries in a 48v system that read 47-48 at rest are still dead!

Re: 36V to 48V and cart won't move
Thanks you guys for all of your input - especially the comment about the solenoid clicking. You know what they say about sleeping on things...
This morning (when I was no longer exhausted/frustrated), I did notice that the throttle relay was clicking, but not the big solenoid (thanks Volt_Ampere!). Sure enough, I found a wire hidden from view that I had not hooked up when installing the EZ-Go capacitor that comes with the controller. So yeah, I feel like a dummy, but that is countered by the fact that the cart moves and I'm going out to test 48 volts! :) Thanks again! |

Re: 36V to 48V and cart won't move
hope you are on the road now.....but as Clemsoncartguy stated, he is correct. when a 48v pack is fully charged, you should be seeing 50.9v. and after you install a new set of batteries.....you need to FULLY charge them before you ever run your cart.
