My new cheap 20 inch wheel/tire combo for my RXV
As some of you may know I recently bought some cheap take off tires from surplus center, price worked out to right at $40 per including shipping, shipping rates may vary. The tires are Wanda brand turf tires on 20x8-10's on 10 inch plain black rims. I had concerns about the backspace on these rims as they have little to no offset, this appears not be a major issue, as track remains similar to factory width overall tire profile went from 18 inches to 19.75 so raised the right height by less than an inch, they did however slightly rub on the rear when someone sits in the rear seat, so I trimmed about about a thumbnail size bit of flat plastic off the inside rear deck structure and I now have about 1/10th inch clearance regardless of weight without having to cut into any of the plastic support ribs. I do not know if this cart has stock or HD leaf springs as the rear seat was added aftermarket before I bought it, this is a non-lifted RXV. I also installed a state of charge gauge today, and have a new windshield that should be here tomorrow, then all I need is a set of 10 inch hub caps and I think I will be done for now.
Here are some photos p.s. The tires seem mostly good, but at least one rim has a small ding on it, I have not done a high speed run yet, will do that in just a few minutes. |

Well I think hub caps will probably look better than the plain black rims, nothing with too much bling though, maybe the EZ-GO factory style 10 inch hub caps like these, most likely it will be something I find an ebay deal on though. One thing is certain they certainly make the wheel wells look more full.

I like the black look. We all have our style. I'm getting black wagon wheels. Before I decided on that size tire and rim I was getting black plain. I like how the black looks.
I even had plain black wagon wheels on my old k10 at one point till I pulled tem off |

I would not mind black wheels it is just that these are so plain, not even vent holes around the edge

Re: My new cheap 20 inch wheel/tire combo for my RXV
I just wanted to post a follow up for anyone considering these tires, I ended up having to install an 8mm wheel spacer on the rear wheels to prevent rubbing even after trimming away the small bit of not reinforcement plastic webbing that people commonly remove as it would still rub when in certain odd positions (turning while sideways on a slight hill). Also one of my tires is enough mismounted or out of round to show a visible wobbble, I am considering ordering another and retiring this one to be a spare.

Hey, thanks for the follow up posting. A lot of times people are interested and appreciate your comments but never say anything so it can seem like your just talking to yourself.
If you decide you might want to consider your rear spring situation, I'll offer this: My previous cart was a TXT with heavy duty (4 leaf) rear springs. I recently acquired an RXV which I had built for me. It has 20" tall tires. The builder installed the "dual action" leaf springs in the rear. This is a single leaf spring with a small "helper" spring (short additional leaf). Even with 500# on the back seat I have no rubbing at full suspension articulation and the ride is good unloaded. Better than my previous cart in all conditions. There was a small amount of trimming of plastic in the wheel well as all RXV's with 20" tires require but no lift. |
