Default Somebody has to know the answer to this

Am I wording my questions wrong? Are they just stupid? Wondering why I rarely get replies?

What should the voltage be on the red and white wires that connect to the coil? When the motor is not cranking but with the key on, I have no voltage coming in to the coil. With engine cranking, I have zero volts on red wire and 4.5 volts on white wire. Assuming this should be 12 volts, what could the issue be?

Thanks much. With only 4-5 volts from red wire, what is likely culprit?

Look at the diagram or print it and trace where that wire comes from. Check to see if there is 12 volts there and so on.

I suggest you start with better wording, For instance "Are they just stupid?" really doesn't excite me to work on your problem.

In fairness I think DarrellQ is wondering if he's asking a stupid question, not wondering if the potential responders are stupid.
If you follow the wiring diagram in the information kgsc provided (page L2) you'll see that the red wire at the coil should be 12 volts and that power path goes: from battery +, solenoid + post, through a fuse, the micro switch at the pedal, the ignition key switch, finally ending at the coil. Start at the beginning and follow that path with a volt meter or test light and you should find your culprit.

meimk, you have a point. So if DarrellQ's post was referring to his questions it served a dual purpose. Got him your answer for his cart problem plus my "stupid" response.
Both are good examples of the Fun Of The Forum.

Thank you meimk, was certainly referring to myself as asking stupid questions! (Although, certainly not stupid enough to call those "stupid" whom I'm asking for a favor!)

Anyway, fun aside, greatly appreciate your suggestion, it has been a weird problem. Had a breakthrough last night, at least whereby I'm getting consistent results. I'm 90% certain that the issue was that I didn't have pulsar coil properly gapped. Set to .020" last night, good consistent spark. Will reassemble today and see if she runs. again, many thanks
