Club Car Over Charging Problem
I'm working on a 1993 Club Car DS Gas Model. At full throttle the battery voltage is 19 plus volts. I have checked wiring and grounds and all were good. I replaced the voltage regulator and still have overcharging problem. Any suggestions ?

re: Club Car Over Charging Problem
I know you've already said you checked wiring & grounds, but it still sounds like a wiring problem to me. Try unplugging the yellow lead (bullet connector) coming off of the voltage regulator. With that unplugged see what the running voltage is. Should start around 12 volts and drop slightly as it runs a few seconds, in other words - not charging. If it's still charging then the yellow wire going to the starter / generator is shorting to ground someplace.

Re: Club Car Over Charging Problem
I know you said you replaced the voltage regulator, have you tried to disconnect it and see if voltage goes to battery voltage.
100 percent of the time that I have had an over voltage its the regulator. The system is not that complicated |

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if that's the problem.

Re: Club Car Over Charging Problem
Regulator is bad or the yellow wire is grounded somewhere. If you can't find a break in the wire anywhere, Disconnect the yellow wire from the starter gen and check voltage again to see if it's grounding to the case.

Re: Club Car Over Charging Problem
Sorry to bring this from the dead, does the charging system put a ground or 12v to the yellow during normal operation? I've bought an 05 precedent and it isn't charging. Trying to diagnose why.

Hello Buick. Welcome to BGW. The best way to get help is to start a thread in the proper section with your cart, year etc.

Re: Club Car Over Charging Problem
Thanks for all the help. I found that the Terminal on the starter that the yellow wire is connected to, was grounded to the starter housing.
