Input shaft won't line up
Hey,
I changed the bearings on the input shaft and pressed them back on. I dropped the pan on the differential so I can watch as I tap the input shaft back in. The problem is the smaller bearing in the back will not line up with the recess it needs to go into. I have removed the input shaft many times now and attempted to tap it into place but it just won't line up. I'm close to ripping my hair out Is there something I'm doing wrong here? Its a marathon cart BTW. Thanks |

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Have you tried downloading the parts, service, and owner's manuals from the Stickies?

Re: Input shaft won't line up
I have the parts/service manual yeah, all I was told was make sure the bearings are completely seated when I pressed them on (duh) and when you slide the input back in you might have to turn the larger gear it meshes with to get it into place. Not much help though because nothing is working for me
People with plenty of input shaft experience please chime in |

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Check the numbers on the old bearing and new bearing be sure they are the same or measure the old bearing compared to the new make sure they are the same. I just did mine and it didn't take much effort to get it back in.

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Well I set the new one on top of the other one, same diameter. Then I check the width of both and they are the same. It's driving me nuts

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Update. So I feel like a freakin idiot lol. The reason the input shaft would not go in and line up to seat the bearing in the back is because I grabbed the wrong input shaft. I set it down and apparently set it near an identical looking one. The one I was using looks the same but the teeth on the gear are at a different angle..should have paid more attention. which is why it would not line up. So mystery solved thanks

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Most problems are easy to fix. It's figuring out what's wrong that's sometimes hard. |

Re: Input shaft won't line up
Well back to the drawing board lol Now instead of there being a grinding/growling sound in the differential there is s high pitch whining sound. So I replaced the bearings in the differential so now it looks like the bearing in the motor is bad. I think the louder grinding sound smothered the softer motor bearing sound, which is why I did not notice it.
Thanks again |
