'91 Ezgo Elec Marathon-won't move
I need some help. My hubby just bought a '91 Marathon from a friend. Was told that the F/R was starting to go the last time he used it.
We put in new batteries, but get absolutely nothing. I don't even hear the "click" like I've read about. Where should I start? I have some mechanical background. I do own a multi-meter. But hoping for someone to point me in the right direction. |

Re: '91 Ezgo Elec Marathon-won't move
Ok so I did a little more searching. Found there is a wire that isn't attached to anything. I took some pics hoping someone may be able to help.

Re: '91 Ezgo Elec Marathon-won't move
OK so per the wiring diagrams it looks like it should go to the F-R micro switch.
Can someone please tell me where they are? |

They are on the back of the Forward/Reverse switch. In other words, behind the shifter handle .

OK thanks. That's what I thought. But now to confirm that's really where it's supposed to go!

Re: '91 Ezgo Elec Marathon-won't move
The Marathon potentiometer (pot) has two 2 wire leads. One set delivers the throttle signal (0-5000) to the speed control. The second set goes to the F&R reverse micro switch the reverse set reduces the signal 50% when the 2 wires contact each other. The reverse set is not needed to run the cart. The cart will run full speed forward and back so long as these wires are not touching each other.
Start with the solenoid activation circuit. The solenoid must click (close) to supply power to controller B+. Solenoid activation consists of + and - to the 2 small solenoid posts. Most likely (-) is constant and (+) is switched. The path for (+) would be battery main + to key, to F&R microswitch(ms), to pot microswitch(ms), to solenoid. Check power supply and these 3 switches. Key switch F&R microswitchs(ms) pot microswitch(ms) |

Do Marathons have a reed switch?

Re: '91 Ezgo Elec Marathon-won't move
So I have a little more time today to troubleshoot.
I found the resistor is broken. So could this be my problem? |
