96 club car stutters
I have a 96 club car series cart that stutters when you press the pedal. The cart has all new batteries and cables. I changed the controller with a used one I had but don’t know if it was good or not. The stutter got better but after riding for a mile or so it seemed to start coming back.
I did check voltage coming out of the sol. And have full battery voltage, but at the motor I seem to only be getting 36 volts not battery voltage which is 49+. This is a 48 volt cart with a 36 volt motor, is there a good test procedure for controller output? |

Re: 96 club car stutters
Size of cables?
All new cables or just battery cables? Weak spots for current flow could also be F/R sw & solenoid. |

Also check your contact pads in the v-glide/potentiometer and be sure they are not worn out or the wiper out of alignment causing you not to have a good signal.

Re: 96 club car stutters
cart has #2 cables through out. Battery cables are new, I will post pic later. All cart cables were check and I changed 2 ends that looked questionable.
No vglide this cart has the mcor, ohms out correctly and smooth. It is about 3 years old but probably has less than 20 hours on it. |

Re: 96 club car stutters
If motor is shuttering/studering it sounds like a low voltage problem as you state, only 36 volts to motor. Check the cables to fnr switch and motor connections.

Re: 96 club car stutters
Pretty sure all cables are good. Just had the body off and went through the cart for a customer. It shuddered when I got it just figured it was batteries so didn’t really worry about it. But now all new stuff and its still there. I will do a voltage drop test on everything and see where I am at.....

Re: 96 club car stutters
It could be bad F&R contact or motor.

Re: 96 club car stutters
Ok completed voltage drop test. All cables are good. I get the same readings at the fwd rev switch as I do the motor. Maybe I am checking wrong. With my meter ground on the battery pack neg, going to motor post I start out with pack voltage, as I press the pedal the voltage decreases with acceleration?
If you run the throttle any where past the stutter and go wide open the cart has no hesitation at all runs great. Just the stutter at very low throttle and no bottom end power at all. |
