Also:
Measure the old one end to end with an Ohmmeter.

Doh!

Why didn't I think about the obvious?

@ JohnnieB - Thanks, I did measure the old one before ordering, and it's 5.1kΩ, with a linear taper, and has (according to datasheet) same degrees of sweep (312) as the one I ordered. We'll see what shows up in my mailbox next week!

@yurtle - I would have cleaned it, but it's sealed with some kind of glue that makes it impossible to get at the trace. Usually there a case leg, or gap at the terminal gang, but not on this one. Worst case, I'll have to drill a tiny hole and inject some fader lube. Just hoping the new one does the trick.

>>> BTW, anyone have the spec's for microswitch to pot adjustment? For example, right now the existing pot shows about 350Ω at the point the microswitch closes. Just wondering if it should be 0Ω at the point the microswitch powers the solenoid, or some other value.

Go to the Stickies and download the Owner's, Service, and Parts Manuals. You can also find wiring diagrams.

Thanks, but none of the stickied manuals are the service manual for an electric Marathon, other than parts, and wiring diagrams. Looking for service procedures, like throttle pot adjustment. I've searched for hours on Google looking for that info...

I used Advanced Search and found this:

Thanks. I did see both of those. The first one shows how to adjust it, of which I'm already aware.

The second shows the range values, of which I'm also aware.

What I'm looking for is the impedance at microswitch closure. I'm guessing it's between 100Ω to 200Ω.

Also, I'd like to find a service (not parts) manual, but that appears to not be as easy as it seems.

So, the Honeywell pot is not going to work.
But, I did happen to find the exact replacement:

1. Close to 0Ω with pedal all the way up and <50Ω when pedal pushed just far enough to make solenoid click.

2. I've been downloading all the EZGO cart manuals (Service, Parts and Owner) that I've found on-line since 2011 and don't have a Marathon with ESM (Electronic Speed Control) service manual in my stash. However there are other EZGO carts that used the same drive system and there are manuals on the Curtis 1204/5 controller, so the information you are looking for exists. (Manuals attached)

FWIW: The higher the Ohms when the solenoid clicks, the more jerky the cart's takeoff and if the value is >300Ω, the controller will go into a HPD (High Pedal Disable) error mode and not run.

Value with pedal on floor should be from 4800Ω to 6000Ω. The controller should be at 100% throttle at 5000Ω, so increasing the value above that doesn't increase the % throttle, but it doesn't adversely effect operation unless the value goes above 7000Ω, which is interpreted as an open pot and the controller shuts down.
