It's probably too late now... so I'll add this for future reference.

The pulse vent screen on the fuel pump tends to plug up with dust and debris,
and won't allow the pump to work properly!

Yes it can be cleaned. A few seconds of carb cleaner sprayed over/at it will usually loosen up the crud that accumulates there.
To explain a bit: The pulse line we talk about (instead of calling it a vacuum line) alternates between small pressure and small vacuum pulses. As the piston moves down it's pressure, as it moves up it's vacuum. That back and forth is what moves the diaphragm in the pump. Little flapper valves in the pump keep it a one way flow. If that breather plugs up the diaphragm can't move and it won't pump.

I brush off the screen with an old toothbrush first, then lightly shoot it with carb cleaner.

My cart used to be hard to start and feather the pedal etc until I put a new battery in it. Now it starts immediately at top of pedal. Huge difference and the old battery still started the cart, just took longer and did what you described.

Thanks for all the info. I changed the fuel lines and pump and it seemed to do the trick. The battery may need to be addressed by summer, but for now it's running ok. I was doing some work on the rear and noticed a big hole in the muffler so that's moving up the list. I'm going to have to search the forum on how to change out a muffler
