6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
The voltage is the same and the controller will run either way. The run time is usually longer with 6 8V because you have more lead weight in the battery pack, typically meaning better power storage.
Maybe the controller mounts in a different place? I’m not extremely familiar with RXV’s but I’m sure one of the experts will be along shortly. Luke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
The two kits you listed are 350 amp upgrade kits for the Danaher controller. Neither of those are the Curtis conversion kits.

https://shop.txtsv.com/danaher-6-8v-...conversion-kit Do you say that this kit isn't Curtis ? Any way , If you have an idea , in their details , they mentioned that: " The Speed Controller Kit for E-Z-GO RXV is used on 2009 to current Electric RXV vehicles " , I'm confused , Is This compatible with 2008 motor/speed sensor/pedals? Thank you |

Re: 6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
The kit you posted is the correct one to convert your danahar to a 350a curtis. There was a kit to convert to the 250a curtis. It may still be available but I don't know for sure. I think some of the conversion kits include controllers that have Freedom mode enabled and some don't. You may want to check on that before you buy.
When you install it be sure to connect the conversion harness white wire to the correct white wire in the cart harness. My cart harness had more than one white wire. The one you want goes to the motor brake. The instructions also say the cart harness wire may be gray instead of white. |

Re: 6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
From what I have seen on this site it means the controller is set to 17.5 mph and may change some other parameters but i'm not sure. Then the speed can be increased to 19.5 with a handheld scanner. I think that is how the controllers for the RXV Freedom carts came set.
The Fleet controllers are set to a lower speed. To get the higher speed with a Curtis fleet controller you have to buy a key to enable Freedom mode. That gets you 17.5 mph. Then you can have it set to 19.5 mph with the handheld. The main thing seems to be if you want the higher speed and get a Fleet controller it will cost you extra to get the speed set. I converted my 2011 RXV to the 235 amp Curtis controller with the Ezgo kit. The kit I used had a sticker on the controller that said Freedom. Some of the controllers I have seen pictures of say Fleet and some say Freedom. I think there are also some that don't say either one. |

Re: 6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
The difference between the 2 kits is the battery cables. The 4-12V kit has fewer cables that are cut for the lengths required for 4 12V batteries. The 6-8V kit has more cables for the higher number of batteries, of the required lengths. If you are going to upgrade to the 350 Amp kit, buy yourself a set of 2 guage cables. The 4 guage cables that come with the kit are better than the 6 guage stock cables, but suffer during high demand.
Do not buy a Freedom Mode controller or use a passkey to set Freedom Mode. It is a lot more work to undo the changes that limit your controller afterwards. When Freedom Mode is enabled on the 350 Amp controller, it sets the max current of the controller to EXACTLY the same limit as the stock 235 Amp controller when Freedom Mode is enabled with the passkey! That limit is under 160 Amps per phase! Me and others here have the ability to enable Freedom Mode for you. All you have to do is mail the controller to be reprogrammed, and pay for return mail. I do not charge for this service for forum members. Bob |

Re: 6-8V vs 4-12V batteries
the guy mine came from used a programmer to set mine. I don't remember him using a key....but mine will run 18mph with me and my son in it. The biggest part I see is it takes off very fast, a lot faster than my gas power cart did.
