Default White-ish fluid from fuel pump

Hello all, I have a lifted work horse with the 295 robins. It’s been kinda hard to start and sometimes sputters while driving so I’ve suspected that the fuel pump might be bad. I was taking out the old pump the vacuum line from the engine fell down and a white-Ish liquid started to drip out. It had a thicker consistency close to oil and a similar appearance to oil with water in it. The oil on my dipstick looks normal so I’m sure there’s no water in the oil.

Any ideas as to what this could be?

Condensation inside the motor can cause the oil/water milkshake, especially around vents or vacuum ports.

I would change the oil and clean the filter to make sure, (the dipstick doesnt touch any of the oil in the bottom) and remove the fuel pump and all the lines and either replace then or blowing compressed air through may blow out and residual condensation. Might be worth cleaning out the fuel pump too in case any of it made it into the pulse baffle of the pump.

As long as the oil you drain out isnt milkshaked I dont think you have anything to worry about.

If the fuel pump has water in it and cant function, it may be starving the carb for fuel causing it to stutter occasionally. If not, then I'd clean the carb out, replace plugs and wires and adjust the valves to spec. Should clear up the stumble.

I’ll do all of that and see if there’s any improvement and see what the oil looks like.

Very common up here especially on engines like in a normal golf cart that do not get up to normal operating temps. Before you try to drain it out, make sure the motor, including the oil is HOT. Engine needs to run at SPEED for like half an hour minimum so as to absorb the water into the oil or dry it out of the crankcase. Otherwise you will just be draining the oil but leaving the sludge behind.

Well I got it good and hot then drained the oil and checked the filter and everything looked great. So I’m not sure why there’s the milky stuff. I tightened up all the fuel connections and I think that solved the sputtering issue.
