Cart will go in reverse but when switched to forward and pedal push all solenoids just click really fast and cart won’t move has new batteries and cables speed switch and all new solenoids if u swap wires on f/r switch will move forward seems like 36 volt side of motor has issue checked f/r switch has 18volts in reverse and 36volts in forward if I remove cable from last solenoid to motor the solenoids all click and stay on and there is 34volts at wire going to motor as long as it’s diconnected from motor reconnect it and all solenoids start clicking really fast

Re: Help 1982 club car 36 volt
If it goes forward when you swap them it sounds like FNR switch is bad.
Is reverse wired to 3 batteries? |

Definitely sounds like the F/R. You can pull it and disassemble it to verify.

Re: Help 1982 club car 36 volt
That is odd. None of the contacts looked as if it were sunken in a bit?
I'm assuming this is a resistor cart, is this correct? Or has it been converted to solid state controller? |

Re: Help 1982 club car 36 volt
Please note I have had this before. The switch would test correctly, but would fail to correctly operate in the cart. I found it by getting the failure, and them checking the switch with my meter at the very same time. It failed, but when I wiggled the switch enough it would intermittently make a connection.

Re: Help 1982 club car 36 volt
Solenoid "chatter" is a classic symptom of low voltage on resistor carts since they lack the HPD safety of modern carts.
Unfortunately you got everybody off track by claiming new batteries. But that claim may also indicate poor troubleshooting by the BU tech by not digging further into the cause, specially since the issue was in forward only. If the bad battery was the #1 battery or pack positive, there is a good chance that you have the charger wires connected incorrectly and you are not charging the first battery. |
