Default Preferred Motor Rebuilder

I've searched around quite and bit and haven't seen this discussion. Who is your preferred electric motor rebuilder and why? I'm looking at Plum Quick and Electrical Motor Products. Both can offer a 10+mph upgrade on my 2002 36V CC DS Series. PQ is about $25 more than EMP, but is there really any difference other than purple paint? I can't really imagine that one can do any more to a 36V than the other. Thoughts?

One thing to keep in mind is shipping costs. Go to UPS.com and get an estimate. That's if your worried about total cost.

Good point WM6 makes.

And PQ is a sponsor here and helps support the site so I do use them for most all my motor needs whenever possible.

Good point on the shipping. Cost isn’t really a problem being they are that close together, I just want to know who offers the best product.

In that case my vote goes to PQ.

PQ welds a handle on the motor, at least they used to. Makes it easier to reinstall. If it comes down to a tie breaker the handle would win me over.

I assume we are talking custom motors here. I would go with the one that is the most thorough in analyzing the custom requirements and offers motor banding as well as built in thermal cut off switches, both options I would take.
However, I find off the shelf motors fit everything we are testing here and have not had either company custom build for me yet.

I’d just buy an upgraded motor to suit your needs.........10mph sounds great......but what do you do with the cart? Buddy of mine just built a cart with a Ford Bronco body, speed motor.....ect......It’s fast, but it won’t do a **** thing he wants it to do off-road.... he’s hard headed and will burn that motor up

Just something to think about

This is an around the neighborhood cart, don’t need to go 30mph. Only looking to push this little 36v from 11mph to about 20. Next build will be the one where I break the bank.
