Nope, that's not normal at all. Spark should be fat, blue, and consistent. If you don't see any blue, then it's not firing as strong as it should. It will zap every bit as hard as a car does.

Per the club car repair manual, this is the spark tester they recommend, and the setting/results specified in the manual. It says if it's yellow or white, test the coil. coil is probably bad. You have to remove the coil to check it, but if you use a meter to test resistance, from the body (where one of the bolts go through to mount it) to the terminal for the kill wire, should be 0.6-1.4 ohms. From the body to the end of the plug wire should be 6-11k ohms. Add approximately 5k ohms if you leave the spark plug cap screwed into the end of the wire.

Replaced the ignition coil this morning, works like a charm now.
