Ignition problem needing help
I have a 2008 with an ignition problem I cannot track down. On several occasions each week, I get in the cart and the ignition is dead. No forward or reverse. I have found if I put the cart in neutral, get out and push it backwards a couple of feet, the roll away warning beeps, then I get back in and it runs fine. Next day or two, same thing happens. My repair shop is baffled. Nothing shows up on their diagnostic equipment.
I have had a new wiring harness , ignition switch, controller and batteries recently installed. none helped with this situation. I have b now been told this could be a dead spot in the motor windings. I really hate to drop another grand for motor replacement not knowing for sure that will fix things. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Is the FNR switch working well? It's just an ON-OFF-ON switch. The "roll away warning" beeping I think is the "back up" warning. I don't think there's a "roll away" beep. The reverse warning gets its power from the Tow/Run switch. So you must be leaving the switch in Run when pushing it in reverse. The FNR switch also gets its power from the Tow/Run switch. Is the FNR switch wire/connection good and tight? Is power getting out of the switch on the F (Brown) or R (Blue) lines? Are the A1/A2 & F1/F2 motor wires/connections good and tight? If the motor windings have a dead spot you could jack up the rear end and try tapping the motor in F or R a number of times to see if it will stop in the dead spot. If it stops in a dead spot measure the voltage at A1/A2 & F1/F2 when hitting the throttle. |

Re: Ignition problem needing help
You have bad brushes or the armature has a burnt spot. Moving it gets it on a good spot.

I agree with Walt. Baring a loose connection, the brushes appear to be the culprit.
