Default Brake Tab Release Question

Hello Fellow Enthusiasts!!

Looking for some advice on how to get the brake cables tabs removed without having to buy a $70 tool that I'll only use once!!!! Not that I've never done that before.

Tried to squeeze it with some pliers but it's really stuck in there and my fat hands get stuck in the compartment!!!

Thanks,
JO

I've done lots of Club Car brake cables on old & crusty carts and can't recall having that big of an issue. Can you give us a picture of what you're having trouble with?

If it is what I think you're talking about, try a small hose clamp to squeeze the tabs together..That will get it started so you can pull it through the bracket...

That is how I do it, but if it is seized, you may need to soak it down with penetrating oil overnight, then tap on it and wiggle it hard before trying again.

David told me to use a 13mm deep well socket I believe.

That is how I got them off of my cart. Had to cut the cable off and slide the socked over the end. Still took a little effort but for me it was a lot easier than using the pliers.
