No voltage on the small +post on the coil
Hello all. I have a 2001 ezgo 36 volt txt. I just got The po said it would not run
Got new batteries in an found the little resistor that’s on the small post broken got a new on one an it has no voltage on the small + post if I jump it out it runs Where does this voltage come from or what else could be wrong Thanks |

Re: No voltage on the small +post on the coil
Is it a series drive or a PDS?

I’m not sure. How do I tell. Manufacturing code is k401. Serial # 1426049
The coil sits in front of a black box with Curtis pmc on it |

Re: No voltage on the small +post on the coil
If the shifter is by your leg and had a rod going to a box on the passenger side you have a series. If shifter is on the dash, PDS

Re: No voltage on the small +post on the coil
Based on KGSC's wiring diagram.
Before doing anything, try wiggling the key kind of hard and flip it on and off quickly with your foot slightly on the throttle. If it is a bad ignition, it is likely it might work one last time. If this breaths life back, replace the ignition switch. If it is the switch, as you flip it, you listen for the solenoid to click. Turn the ignition on and put the car in reverse, does it make a noise (assuming it is not disconnected)? That tells you that voltage is making it to the reverse switch. Check the voltage of the red wire and the blue wire of the reverse switch. They are connected to a microswitch which is activated by the reverse mechanism is rotated and deactivated when in the center. Either forward or reverse, the microswitch should engage. I have one cart that the switch is not engaging or the switch can be bad. If the red is cold and the buzzer does not make a sound, the problem is between the switch and the battery. if the blue wire is hot, unbolt the chrome cover off the drivers side floor mat. carefully pull the mat out from under the running board and lift up to see the accelerator box. It has a metal cover and a plastic cover. Inside is a microswitch. The green wire should be hot and when the accelerator is pressed (slightly), the red wire should go hot. If the green wire is not hot, backtrack to the ignition. If the red wire is hot, there should be power at the solenoid. If the green is hot and the red does not get hot with the pedal, the switch is bad. The ignition needs to have the rivets of the dash drilled out and replaced. Amazon sells rivet guns and a whole set of rivets for 1 cart or you can try to use generic rivets. With access to the dash, the blue wire from the reverse switch should be hot, it it is not, you have a bad wire/connector. With the key turned on. the green wire to the foot pedal should be hot. If turning on the switch does not make green go hot, you have a bad ignition. If you jumper blue to green, you'd bypass the switch and the cart should run. |

Stock rivets in the key switch plate are push rivets. Disconnect the pack negative then take a small phillips and push the centers out. They will fall in to a pocket behind the dash if you are easy pushing them out. Once out the plate will pivot out.

Re: No voltage on the small +post on the coil
Not sure what you're calling a resistor but, generally the resistor is on the larger solenoid studs and a diode is on the smaller studs. If it is a diode you're talking about, do you have it on correctly? A diode is like an electrical check valve, it only lets voltage go one way.
