Default Predator 420 , what is the best clutch ?

I have a 1991 DS ( KF82). I bought a Predator 420 for an engine swap and would like some input on the type of clutch to use . ( that is , assuming the stock clutch is not a good option). Thanks .Also if anyone has one for sale , i'm interested.

The comet 780 is the best option. IF you are keeping the stock S/G, a pulley for that will also be required.

Check vegas carts website. I’ve used the cvtech clutch they sell with good result.

You *can* use the stock clutch. But you will have to cut a couple inches off the crankshaft of your new motor, drill the center out deeper for the bolt and tap it. This process, to me, sucks. I’ll never do it again. It’s worth the 300 bucks for a new clutch to save hours of cutting, driliing, and tapping a hardened steel crankshaft.

Also with the stock clutch you will need to replace the spring with a slightly heavier duty one or it will begin to close at idle and the cart will creep along slowly making it impossible to shift into f or r.

While you *can* use the stock clutch you’re better off using a new aftermarket one like the comet or cvtech. Your oem one is probably old and worn out anyway

Edit: just looked it up on VC’s website they say the cvtech is big and probably won’t fit most club cars so the comet is probably your best option. They sell the comet too.

Also with the CVtech the S/G pulley doesn't have the space needed on the crankshaft.

I still think the 780 is the best option. Readily tuneable and a bolt on to the clone's crank. If you are not using the S/G what is your plan for battery charging ?

That's a **** good question . I was going to keep a battery maintainer on it . Is that not a good idea ?
