Default Curtis 1234SE-6350

Took the inaugural ride in the new cart tonight ('21 72V Cushman Shuttle 4) and was pretty disappointed in the speed and torque. Maxed out at about 14 mph with just me in the cart. Loading up three kids and the wife could prove to be unbearably slow.

From reading it seems BobBoyce is no longer around so my question to the forum is how can I squeeze more out of the cart? I am going to look into upsizing tires for one but what other options do I have?

The controller has to be set to limit your speed if it's that slow. That is golf course speed. You should look into getting it programmed for higher speed if possible.

I figured it had the settings from the original club still in place. Is that something a dealership would be able to do for a fee?

Yes - unfortunately you have to pay to get it done.

I guess I should have inquired with the dealer I bought it from to get the to program it. Buying out of state and delivered has its risks I guess.

I'll call around and locally and hopefully someone can help me.

First shop that got back to me quoted $200 to tune and I the dealer told me this controller will max out at 19mph fully tuned.

At that rate wouldn't it make more sense to get a plug and play Navitas or similar? Is there a secondary market for used curtis controllers to recoup some of that cost?

Check out the thread about programming curtis controllers, you can make a cable and do it yourself for cheap. That controller is rated for 350 amps continuous, you should be able to get more than enough speed out of it
