So the ride does get too harsh? It does seem like a big jump from 1 to 4. Maybe the 3 would be better or the add-a-spring version. It'll mostly be the kids that ride on the back.

I just spent the weekend driving mine around with the hd springs and I don't think the ride is that bad.... It's a little stiffer than stock but if you've got passengers in the back, especially adults, you really need them. I saw plenty of people without them and the rear step was almost touching the ground... Personally, I would rather have a little bit stiffer ride knowing that I can handle four grown adults with no problem than a softer ride that bottoms out... Just my opinion....

Thanks for the feedback. Any thoughts on whether the 3 leaf springs might be a happy in between? Hold more weight than the OEM but not quite as stiff as the 4 leaf? At least one of the E-tailers claim 100lbs extra per spring, per side. So if the stock single is the baseline then 2 leaves would carry 200lbs more (100 per spring), 3 leaves would carry and additional 400lbs over stock (200lbs per side), and 4 springs an 600 additional lbs. Sound logical?

I'm sure anything more than the stock single leaf would be a definite improvement. I never looked into the three leaf setup but I'm sure it would do you just fine.

ME. The ride is fine with 3-4 people, but alone, it's bone-jarring and it shakes the cart so much that any non-locknut stays tight for all of a mile.

I planned to remove a leaf this winter, but I think I might lift it NEXT winter so I put it off. In the meantime, the local hardware clerk is getting to know me.

DITTO!
"bone jarring" may be an understatement!

I was also thinking of taking 1 OR 2 out!
But... just to let those of you know... CPP now has an "Add a leaf"

I heard about adding a leaf too late, unfortunately. I definitely would've done it that way instead.

In the meantime, if I come across any hitch-hiking sumo wrestlers, I'm GOOD TO GO.

A few E-tailers carry these. I'd be really interested to hear from someone that has tried them. I wish the Etailers would give more information on these type of products. I'd like to know more from the manufacturer about the specs and performance characteristics in order to be able to make a decision.

I wonder if these will work with everything else stock, including U bolts.

I'd be interested to know too...as I was just about to order the entire set of leaf springs. This would be a much better option.

...and could probably be added without needing to fight the dreaded front-left spring bolt, right?
