Default Cables getting hot and losing charge

Hello again,

I have a 2003 Pathway IQ that has been running great until this weekend. After a short ride the battery meter drops down a bar or two and I noticed all the battery cables are hot. Water level is good and it reads fine with the hydrometer. Connections are tight and no corrosion either. What should I be looking for or testing? The charger is working fine as well.

Thanks,
Paul

Thank you for a quick reply!

SG level was good and they are 2009 8 volt batteries. (Energizer)

All the cables are hot? all the battery cables? Or all the battery, motor, and controller cables are hot? Is the motor hot? Is the controller hot?
What size are the cables? What gauge?

I assume we are talking about a totally stock 03 IQ since you mention no mods?

All the battery cables are hot, not any others. There are no mods done to the cart.

Thanks,
Paul

The cables are original and in good condition. The ends are clean and look great!

10 year old cables may look good but I would replace them with new 4ga welding cables and you should have no more cable heating.

i agree with doug even if you don,t go 4 gage at 10 years old they may be building resistance and that would account for heat and loss of energy..............................
