Default State of charge meter wiring in yamaha drive

I have a digital state of charge meter and I want to run it through my ignition. I know it doesnt draw much hard wired but I still want it through the ignition. I got it to work by splicing into the hot wire and running negative back to the battery pack, but obviously that doesnt turn it off with the key switch. How do I wire it into this harness so it turns on and off, I am not sure which port the hot wire would go to? my charge meter only has one red and one black wire coming off of it. does anyone know which spot on this harness I would need to wire into and can I but some sort of connector which will make it fit in this harness like the other 2 wires?

I hooked mine up through the on and off ignition. Only one wire is hot and the other becomes hot after the switch is turned to the on position. Just wire it to the hot that is switched.

yep just figured it out thanks for your help. I need to find the post now that talks about volt readings for batteries. mine are getting old in this cart i just bought. I charged it up and after letting it sit for a day it was only 49.7. any idea how bad that means they are? i havent driven it much yet since buying it a few weeks ago but when i do drive it it seems fine for short distances.

50.93 is 100% charged. 49.7 is about 75% charged. You might consider the 6x8 conversion if you have the 4x12 setup now. My batteries are new this year but when it is time to replace I think I'm going to the 6 battery setup. Crossing my fingers that It will be a while.

Mine was just the cost of the batteries. I was able to fabricate a holddown and a piece of aluminum to hold the batteries in place.
