lester matic 36v charger no dial stays in green
I have a 1979 club car 36v and a lester native 36v charger . My question is it is charging but not turning off. I'm scared to leave it on longer than two hours afraid it will ruin batteries.
When batteries ate really low charges at 30a then within about an hour and a half they appear to be fully charged . As charger drops in amps humming gets louder but has never turned off does this sound normal? All help is appreciated thank you. |

Re: lester matic 36v charger no dial stays in green
Sounds normal so far! Take a voltage reading on your battery pack while it's charging. You should see 44 - 45V before the charger turns off. By the way, it's normal to take 9 to 12 hours to charge if your batteries are low! Keep tabs on the water levels ( best to check right after a charge ) and be careful not to overfill them. As far as the noise, it's pretty much normal too. Some chargers are quieter than others, so don't think yours is bad because someone elses is quieter! It and the batteries should get warm, but not hot! It's also normal for the rate of charge ( amps ) to diminish as the batteries become charged. Your charger should turn off automatically within the 9 to 12 hour period with no battery problems. If you have any weak batteries, the charger should shut off at 16hrs.
