I didn't think it mattered what speed code you had when using a PQ motor? I thought the PQ motor bypasses any speed restraints? Does anyone know if this is true or false?

That statement is only true for IQ drive systems, not Excel.
On the IQ system, the 4 pole magnet they install fakes the controller into thinking the motor is going slower than it actually is rotating. The effect is that the controller never engages the regen to keep the speed in the configured max speed.

The only figures that are out of specs with the rest posted are the ones Dale got with his EMP Motor and 21 inch tires...

Dale, did you install that motor yourself or did the dealer do it?

Thanks Sergio! I have an IQ system, so I guess that is why I am getting such good results and was only on speed code 3

I had the dealer install both motors for me
He had both instock and I have both of the old motors

I will keep yall informed if Ric can find a way to bypass the
need for a code to get to speed code 4
He has been able to get the Curtis Controller to spit out info
and has been able to write info back to it and have it accept
the changes to it.
Now, it is just a matter of time before he can write software to bypass
the code limitatios.
I also have him looking into increasing the rev limiter inside the comtroller
He is attempting to do that first thing, but, as of yet, everything he tries
goes unchanged..........We have been unable to get past it.........Too many call to subroutines which check the armatuer rotational speed...........
We will eventually find each and every one and bypass them all. or write a new subroutine with increased limits.....

Hope this is a helpful post.......

I have a 2011 Precedent. I will be doing the PQ Bandit upgrade shortly. My question is it worth it to replace the controller? I see a lot of these post advise that they are using stock controller.

The PQ website says with the stock controller you can get up to 25 mph, so no you don't have too...

Just installed my PQ Bandit on my 2008 Club Car. Wow...I am impressed. Stock controller, new batteries, 8.5 tires I had a local officer put me on the radar on the way to the golf course. He clocked me at 23MPH. Very satisifed with this product.

I've had 2 PQ Bandit motors on the same cart and both with different results.

My current bandit motor is getting me 22-23MPH, very disappointing compaired to my first. My previous bandit motor got me consistant 25-26 with my best WOT at 28.1. The brushes went out in about a year and Robbie replaced the motor for free.

Link to my cart is in my signature with it's specs. I've also done a few threads on this as well with pictures of top speeds.

By the way... you don't need to get the speed code 4 if you change out your motor with one that has a tricked out magnet like the PQ motors.
