Long travel lift kit confusion
Shopping for a long travel lift kit for a 96 txt dcd cart. I have trouble finding time to call during business hours to speak with companies and retailers directly.
Does All Sports make a kit for this cart? I cannot find one, but I hear guys talking about them. Also, does the Jakes come with a new steering box or not? Can't figure this out. I looked for hours and at dozens of sites, but the photos posted with the descriptions often don't seem to jive. I realize they use brand supplied images for their ads. I have an All Sports long travel lift kit on my 87 club car DS and love it. The new steering box improved the ride and handling, so I would like to enjoy those bonuses again on this build. |

Re: Long travel lift kit confusion
You have a 1996 so the steering box is mounted to the frame. In 2001 (mid-year) ezgo deleted the steering box from the frame and installed a rack & pinion steering to the axle.
If you were to buy a Jakes long travel lift kit for a 2001+ cart it will come with a new rack & pinion steering. Since you have the older style steering box you order a long travel kit for 1994-2000. That Jakes kit re-uses every bit of your old steering. Re: Long travel lift kit confusion
Thanks, sport coup. That explains why some vendors show a steering box and others don't. They must use a single stock photo for all the kits, but each kit is different.

Re: Long travel lift kit confusion
I was able to contact all sports today and they said I would use the newer long travel kit for 2001+, but must buy new 2001+ style hubs for the front. It would come with new steering box assembly. Price is just over $1k ish.

Re: Long travel lift kit confusion
I can't speak for All Sports but there is no way you could use a Jakes 2001+ long travel kit on a 1996 txt without cutom fabrication. The steering column mounts to the steering box on 94-00 txt's. If the steering box gets replaced by a rack & pinion there is no where to mount the steering column.

Re: Long travel lift kit confusion
You should be able to get the Jake's Long Travel kit for under $700 for your cart.
Best price I could find was $599 at this website: http://www.jandbgolfcartparts.com/p-...-94-01-12.aspx The websites below have them for 650. http://www.eccustomgolfcarts.com/ezg...214-p-271.html http://www.golfcartgiant.com/ejaaadlikit.html http://blockbustergolfcarts.com/long...to2000-12.aspx |
