kf82 rotation direction
if looking at the drive clutch, what is the direction of engine rotation for the kf82?

Re: kf82 rotation direction
Thx. Have the motor on the bench and want to check compression. Was thinking of using a 9/16 socket in drill motor to spin it. If counter clockwise, I assume I'll just loosen the clutch nut? How do others do this?

Re: kf82 rotation direction
It "might" loosen the clutch bolt,
but, from the drive clutch bolt's I've loosened, it takes more then just compression to loosen it! |

Re: kf82 rotation direction
another note:
Start the drill/driver out slow, then speed up... and don't forget... the carb has to be wide open for a true reading! |

Re: kf82 rotation direction
Mine shows about 80-85lbs. Carb is off the motor. Is that 'good enough'? I posted a question about spec for good compression but no one's chimed in on that.

Re: kf82 rotation direction
Don't quote me on this...
I've read that the compression was 100psi when KF82's were new, If it's not smoking, or has bad "blow-by" from the dipstick tube, I'd say that it's ok! |

Re: kf82 rotation direction
Thanks Lockman.....it was running well. I put the air cleaner stuff back to stock and unwittingly blocked the crankcase breather hose (thinking it was carb vent). Has been running fine that way for a couple months. This time though, it pinged a little on load and lost power. Also fuel leaking from carb and when trying to start, it 'sounded' like it does when I have it choked for starting. Removed air cleaner and it seemed to be 'blowing' out the intake not 'sucking'. I now think that the whole issue was the breather line blocked, causing back pressure, overcoming ability to 'suck' through the intake? With it on the bench now and spinning with a drill motor, it does not seem to be puffing out the intake. I'm tempted to just put the engine back in and test that theory. Cart is 200 miles away from home so it'll be a few weeks. Do you think my diagnosis seems reasonable?

Re: kf82 rotation direction
I don't know KF82's very well!
I saw the post about it pinging and going up a hill with some difficulties, and I didn't post because...well?... I don't know KF82's! Springbok is the "go-to" guy for KF82's... hopefully I didn't p*ss him off in your air cleaner thread! (a note on that... I deleted a bunch of posts, then brought all of them back due to complaints... My bad! ) Send him a PM... maybe he can help! |
