Front seat backrest...figured it out
Turns out the bolts are held in with "T Nuts" that bite into the wood. Well, ten years of rust, corrosion, and rot have combined to make all 4 spin freely. I've got the padding saved and I've got a piece of plywood to use to make a new backer.
Now I need the least expensive seat cover option you guys know of. Or if anyone has some beige/tan marine vinyl left over from another project they want to sell me or a good source of it that'd be helpful too! |

A lot of times you can just punch the nuts out of the plywood and install new nuts in the old plywood..

Any marine grade vinyl and heavy duty staple gun will work for you. Did mine for less than $30.
And for the t nuts, try wedging a flat head screwdriver between the wood and seat cushion to give some resistance to the t nuts as you turn them. Maybe they'll bite into the wood and tighten down. |

For deals on marine grade vinyl, check JoAnn's on-line ads daily. They often have 50% coupons for any material that's at regular price. That's how I got the material for the rear seat I built for just under $20.

Re: Front seat backrest...figured it out
I just replaced my seat covers on my cart a couple weeks ago. I had looked into buying the vinyl to do them myself, but I decided to take a chance and purchase a set from a seller that I found on ebay. This was after talking to them several times, and taking a look at several color samples that they sent me for free! I can't say enough about the quality of the cover that I received. I purchased the 2 stripe option for $85, but you can get them as low as $40 shipped for a single color! You can find them by searching for 'Up To Par Covers'. I have no affiliation, other than a very satisfied customer.

Re: Front seat backrest...figured it out
thanks for the input all! ended up getting 2 yards off ebay for $21. Comes Monday and then I'll have a few days to do it and get it sold. Bummer too, cart came out pretty nicely. Just too high of a starting point to turn around and replace everything with custom stuff haha.
