It does correctly shut itself off after a full charge, right? If so you should be good.

It looks as if my ERIC charger has died. What are the advantages - and disadvantages - of the Lester Summit II over the ERIC?

Lester quality. New Summit II comes with a 4 year warranty.
Bluetooth app for viewing charge data and history, and changing battery profiles.
Interlock control, and easily changeable for Off or On-board use. (Standard Eric charger is not configurable for on-board use)

I’m pretty sure you can get the 650w version from ScottyB for much less $ than a new ERIC from anywhere else.

Any disadvantages? I thought someone mentioned that it does not continuously charge the batteries if the cart is not used for longer periods of time...

It does have storage mode. What triggers a maintenance charge depends on the battery profile. Typically it’s based on time or voltage. The charger will automatically start a storage or maintenance charge when it is needed as long as it stays plugged in.

Someone complained a while ago that it didn’t have Float mode. It does support float mode on certain battery profiles, but you would probably have to ask Lester tech support for the recommended profile if you want to have float mode for your pack. Float mode is only really necessary for AGM and Gel type batteries. FLA cart batteries don’t typically need that option.

I bought a Lester Summit II charger today and I'm kind of impressed with it already. It seems to be well designed and well constructed - definitely a bit stouter than the ERIC charger. And I really like the Bluetooth feature. It's doing its first charge right now, so we'll see what the battery pack reads once it's complete.
