Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
OK. I suspect that solenoid was used as a relay for a winch or something similar.

BTW, that cart is much more similar to a Club Car DS model than a Precedent.

That's a factory solenoid, but it's not for anything having to do with normal driving/operation of the cart. Probably for an accessory of some sort, which may not be on it anymore if it was a fleet cart, or could be for a bed lift actuator/ motor.

Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
The thing is, I'm pretty sure that solenoid sits there and clicks ever so often with the key off, I'm pretty sure (when it was connected). Looking through their maintenance records they did stuff to the charging system or upgraded when it was new. It's just a bunch of summary logs. They spent about 5K in 4-6 repairs of the cab alone. I underestimated with 10K in repairs in 6 years. That's pretty disturbing because of where it came from. I expect to get into the box (OBC) at some point because I'm going to remove that solenoid and all that harnessing if I don't need it. Maybe it was a GPS ping so they knew where their workers were? Maybe radar and a sign that says "your speed is?" I think I might have seen them used like that but not sure. Big city stuff that I'm not used to.
Right now I decided it would be better to work on my two small yamahas for something to zip around on so I can get back to normal work. One is a gas and just needs a carb and fuel pump and the electric needs a battery frame and is the one I prefer, by far. Thanks guys, any input is always great! |

Re: What is this solenoid and do I need it?
An electric or electric over hydraulic lift ram would be very easy to put on this and it comes heavily hinged in the back already just like a dump truck. As is it's made to tilt the bed up by hand and set the prop rod. Some do dump from the factory I think. It would make a great small vehicle hauler too, like a mini rollback which is what it looks like without the side boards. Perfect for a carrying a load of batteries at perfect height, a drum, or small tank, and as I said before it's a perfect mobile work table.
