Unhappy 1984 cart very jerky on start

Just bought this cart and it is very touchy when taking off. goes from stopped to full speed with a clunk, there is no way to feather it from a stop. Any help would be appreciated.

If its goes from zero to blast off at the first click, then more than likely the number 5 solenoid is stuck closed. You could have a stuck number 5 micro switch, but that would be super super rare.

Thanks for the fast response. How are these numbered is there an easy way to tell?

I've done a little more troubleshooting on this thing and it appears what's going on is the first (2) clicks are not doing anything and it only engages on the third click. Does that sound like something different from my first assessment?

The 2nd solenoid, or the 2nd speed micro switch is not working. cart does not run on first click, that's the master solenoid
