OH NO how did I miss that!
Just finished installing 48v to 12v converter, the blue one with the hot memory wire. Anyway while filing the papers I noticed the paragraph that clearly states " Note: this unit will generate a significant amount of heat and should be mounted on a metal surface to reduce the risk of damage to your cart." I keep looking at the word should. I mounted the unit on the bottom side of the dash tray/glove box right in the middle. Is this going to be a problem?

Re: OH NO how did I miss that!
I didn't mention there is a 3/16 spacer between the converter and the plastic. Not a heat sink just a spacer at each bolt.

Re: OH NO how did I miss that!
I believe I have the same reducer as you
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...madaktion.html I’ve checked mine on occasion since installing it, and it has never even gotten mildly warm... but I only run headlights taillights, LED under glow, and on occasion a 126w light bar...But I did mount it to metal as advised... probably all depends on your usage (length of time/draw) |

Re: OH NO how did I miss that!
I think the spacer trick may work. It will keep the plastic cool but the question will be if the reducer can live with out the aid of a metal heatsink (aka the metal mounting surface)

Re: OH NO how did I miss that!
If that’s a precedent Just move it to the stock mounting location on the front steering tower behind/above the steering rack. There’s a plate and a couple holes that may or may not be any use for mounting it, but that’s where the factory reducers are mounted. It’s probably 6” from where you have it mounted now.

Re: OH NO how did I miss that!
Thank you for your input, I went ahead and moved it to the metal surface.
That's what they make angle drills for and I only broke one bit. |

Put some silicone grease in that connector to help keep water and debris out. |
