Default Power Drive charger

Hi all, would appreciate any advice, when I plug my charger into the cart the amp meter only goes to 7 amps. I plugged a friends charger into it and it goes up to 13 amps. Would my charger be bad? It’s a 2001 club car

If its the Old skool Powerdrive 17930 that can be because of a bad fuse, and/or a bad diode.

A Powerdrive 2 or early PD3 could have a failed rectifier. There was an update to the rectifier to a heavier duty design.

What about the fuse on the front of the case? Looks like a horse shoe. Check the wire connections on the back of it make sure they’re clean and not rusted or corroded or burned. Make sure that both of the fuse legs are still good.

Ok, I will check that all out when I get back out there Friday, and I guess what makes me think the charger may be bad is yes it does appear to charge the batteries but the charger will never shut off. Thank you for all the information!!

Ahhh, charger doesn't shut off, you left out that valuable piece of information.

You need to check batteries, near the end of the charge cycle to see if you have a battery holding the pack up.

your batteries are charging so there is nothing wrong with the charger.
