Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
Could to it a lot cheaper, Do you really need 500 lbs cap. If not, no suspension and softer tires would get you by for a beach hauler.

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
Yea, I don't think suspension is that necessary. So your thinking of using a regular axle?
I found this axle with a 46" track. Add $50 in hubs & I'm at about the same price as using the half shafts. |

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
You know what might work? If you could fine an old front axel, hubs and wheels off a mid 80's EZGO, you could do one of two things. Weld the steering joints to the axel so they can no longer turn. Or you could fab up some fixed linkage to hold them straight. The weld it to a box angle frame, and set the bed on top. That would give you the right width and hubs for your wheels. Do you know anyone with some parts carts laying around?

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
Got the swim platform dismantled last night & in the process of reassembly. It's like a giant puzzle! Once I have it reassembled, I'll be able to trim all the excess off (see the red line).
In order to reassemble it nice & tight I need a couple of bar clamps. Guess I'll be visiting Harbor Freight this evening! |

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
Platform is cut down. Pedestal is built. Pretty solid in there. And comes out in a minute or so with the removal of one strap.
Time to go ski now.... |

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
The bagwell still holds a 5 gallon gas can. And the bungie to keep it sitting there.
I think about all it does it give a place for a person, maybe two, for short trips. And a place to tie a cooler, duffel bag or another gas can. And looks funky as he||. Got out for a ride today. 50 degree air, 41 degree water. Was FLAT & we were the only boat out. |

Re: Installing a Rhino bed on a Marathon
Put a want add in the for sale area, There has to be someone out there that has done a long travel front swap or drop axle swap that you could get the old parts from for your trailer.
I have a set of G2 A arms, hubs and springs I'm holding to do just the same thing. Maybe give the site sponsors that do the swaps a call and see if they got any leftover stock stuff. |
